Back to eco-treks

We will start this trail from the beach of Paraiso and we will first climb the mountain ‘Café de Las Mujeres’ facing Paraiso. We will observe the great variety of the agriculture in the Sierra de Bahoruco: mango, pineapple, papaya, banana and of course the cacao tree.

During this trail, we will take time to stop in the isolated villages in order to taste tropical fruits and meet with those communities. We will have lunch at the highest point of the trail, in the middle of a pine tree forest which is located in the village of Charco Blanco at 800 metres above sea level. In this village, a few families are in charge of the harvest and the drying of coffee beans which will be afterwards transported down to the village of Paraiso for sale.

The different communities of Dominicans and Haitians we meet on the way are always proud to show us their home and their way of living. We will go back down from the south side all the way to the canyon of the Nizaito River. This side of the mountain offers an amazing view over the village and the beach of Paraiso.
